Specifically, we&#8217;ll be studying the language of reaching a decision about whom to hire.<\/p>\n<p>A Brazilian business unit of fast moving consumer goods company Fun Beverages has recently interviewed several people for an HR manager position. Now the regional HR director, Ted, and the business unit general manager, George, are meeting to discuss the short-listed, or final, candidates.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAs you listen, pay attention to the language they use to compare the two interviewees and to decide which one is the best fit. George agrees.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" onclick=\"showhide('353'); return(false);\"><strong>2) <\/strong>What are the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two main candidates, Ronaldo and Yala?  <\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"353\" style=\"display: none\"> <font color=\"#ff0000\"> <strong>Ronaldo has better technical qualifications whereas Yala has better soft skills. In addition, Yala has a more dynamic style, which would be a better fit with their organization.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" onclick=\"showhide('354'); return(false);\"><strong>3) <\/strong>What are the main reservations about Yala? <\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"354\" style=\"display: none\"> <font color=\"#ff0000\"> <strong>George has a concern about whether Yala will be ready to adapt from the manufacturing business to the fast-paced, market-oriented environment in a fast moving consumer goods company.
