Quando pensate “alla gestione dell'ufficio„, che cosa siete le prime cose che vengono alla mente? Hanno potuto essere cose come lavoro di ufficio, la limatura, la copiatura ed altre mansioni noiose e ripetute. La maggior parte della gente probabilmente non pensa ad un lavoro del responsabile di ufficio come servizio cruciale che sostiene il funzionamento riuscito di un'azienda e, pertanto, della relativa capacità fare i soldi.

Bene, oggi stiamo circa per venire a contatto di Thomas, che sta andando dirci circa il ruolo che svolge come responsabile di ufficio alla filiale messicana di un'azienda chimica multinazionale.

1) Come Thomas ricapitola il suo ruolo come responsabile di ufficio?

Thomas dice che il suo lavoro è di mantenere l'ufficio “funzionare efficientemente„, che significa che deve maneggiare una vasta gamma delle mansioni relative alle attività giornaliere dell'ufficio.

2) Che caratteristiche Thomas elenca come qualità importanti di un responsabile di ufficio?

Thomas dice che “soprattutto„, o per di più, i responsabili di ufficio dovrebbero esercitare il giudizio sano ed effettuare attendibilmente i loro lavori. Inoltre suggerisce che alcune caratteristiche di personalità, come il buonsenso ed il lavoro di abilità scaturiscono con altre, sono chiavi a successo in questo lavoro.

3) Secondo Thomas, che cosa è un misunderstanding comune circa il senso migliore affinchè un responsabile di ufficio faccia il suo lavoro?

Molta gente crede che un responsabile di ufficio dovrebbe provare sempre a fare una buona impressione sulla sporgenza, mantenendolo felice per quanto possibile. Ma Thomas pensa che sia più importante mantenere l'ufficio funzionare uniformemente ed efficacemente, anche quando quel significa esercitare la pressione su altri impiegati.

In this Business English Podcast episode, we’ll study how to open a traditional commercial negotiation between buyer and seller. We’ll focus on creating goodwill, starting off, setting ground rules, suggesting an agenda and exploring possibilities.

We’ll be listening to a telephone conversation between Tony, a supplier of building materials, and Paul, a purchasing manager for a large construction company in Canada. Paul is buying materials for a harbor project. A harbor is a protected area of water where boats dock, or park. For this project, Paul needs to buy anchor bolts. These bolts are the thick steel screws that are embedded or buried in concrete to support or anchor structural steel columns. Structural columns refer to the steel frameworks that hold buildings up.

This podcast is part of an ongoing series on negotiation skills for ESL. Throughout the series we’ll follow two scenarios: The first will look at a more strategic style of negotiation involving a proposed merger between two telecoms providers and the second will focus on a simpler, bargaining style negotiation between a purchasing agent and an industrial supplier.
